Jessica Simpson Is Engaged to Eric Johnson

Jessica Simpson, the 30-year-old singer, and her boyfriend Eric Johnson, the 31-year-old former NFL football player, are engaged on Thursday (November 11), after seven months of dating.

A rep for Jessica Simpson confirmed that the two became engaged late last week, "We’re thrilled to confirm that it’s true! They are engaged.”

Simpson divorced from her ex-husband Nick Lachey in 2005 after three years of marriage. She began dating Johnson in this May while he was estranged from his first wife, stylist Keri Johnson. Johnson’s divorce was finalized last month.

Earlier the week, Nick popped the question to Vanessa Minnillo, his girlfriend of nearly five years.

Eric Johnson, also 30, previously played college football at Yale University. After graduation in 2001, he was drafted by San Francisco 49ers and New Orleans Saints as a tight end. He is currently a free agent since the Saints released him in July 2008.

Simpson divorced from singer and actor Nick Lachey in 2006 after fours years of marriage. The star once dated Dallas Cowboys player Tony Romo for two years. But she was dumped by him on her birthday last year and hasn't really dated anyone since then.

John Mayer was reportedly linked to Jessica Simpson and Tony Romo breakup.

According to reports, Tony Romo flew into Los Angeles to reunite with Jessica Simpson on Thursday July 10, the night before her 29th birthday. However, the footballer dumped the country singer shortly after he checked Jessica's phone and found messages from her ex-boyfriend John Mayer.

"They were hanging out and he picked up her phone and she got defensive about it. Tony found messages from John and went ballistic.” a source told Radaronline.

It was said that Tony accidently learned that Jessica joined John for lunch in Hollywood last month. So he reportedly had an idea that Jessica possibly cheating with John.

"Tony dumped her right then. He walked out and that was it.” the source added.

Tony and Jessica had beem dating since November, 2007.

Jessica Simpson and Tony Romo have reportedly broken up on Thursday July 10, the night before her 29th birthday, after nearly two years of dating.

On Friday, the country singer, who was reportedly heartbroken over the split, cancelled a Barbie party for her birthday.

"She is heartbroken. She loves Tony. But it's been difficult lately. He's busy with his career and she's getting ready to shoot her show (The Price of Beauty). They decided to part ways." a source told People magazine.

While the Dallas Cowboys quarterback enjoyed the Friday night with friends at Hollywood hotspot MyHouse without the birthday girl.

"He had quite a few girls stop by his dance floor table. Romo was sipping Grey Goose and having a fun time with the boys." An onlooker was quoted as saying.

Both Simpson and Romo's rep had no comment.
